BJP gherao 'New TMC' MLA Sandipan Saha's house in Entally, protest over 'cut money'
A suspected Chinese national was arrested on Monday night near Siliguri, close to the India-Nepal border, for allegedly entering India illegally with forged documents. The arrest took place at the New Bridge area in Panitanki under Khokhrebari police station limits, where the 41st Battalion's ‘C’ Company of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) was conducting a routine check. The man was detained after suspicious documents were found during inspection.
During questioning, the individual was found to be carrying two Swiss passports issued in two different names and a forged Nepali citizenship document. Authorities confirmed that the man is a Chinese citizen. He had no valid Indian visa or legal documents permitting entry into the country. The exact route and timeline of his entry into India are currently under investigation.
Siliguri Police stated that a probe is underway to verify the suspect’s real identity, purpose of travel, and movement. Central intelligence and other national security agencies have also initiated inquiries. Further verification of the recovered documents is in progress, and the man remains in custody pending investigation.
